Gap - that American chinos and denim haven - is finally making it's way to Australia. The first store will open in Melbourne's Chadstone Mall in late 2010. Like other stores in the giant mall, the premiere Gap down under will be an 8,000-foot behemoth, also housing the company's co-brands babyGap, GapKids, and GapBody. Though the store is known for its casual wears it's collaborations with runway labels Alexander Wang, Vena Cava, and Rodarte have risen the company's high fashion profile. The designer influence will be in good company considering Chadstone's posh retail tenants, which include Tiffany, Gucci and Hugo Boss. The mall is known as the largest in the world's southern hemisphere.
Not in Melbourne? No worries! Sydney is next on the list, with a store opening in the early part of 2011; and up to 15 additional stores will open in Australian metropolitan areas over the next four years.
