Fuchsia seriously reminds us of the flowers in bloom. And considering it's spring, even though some days don't feel like it, it actually makes sense why this awesome colour is so very right now! You may have seen it flaunted on the catwalk by the biggies like Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, and Marc Jacobs. And if you need any more reason than that to smother your smooch in fuchsia then how about because it's actually been proven that it makes you darker skinned goddesses look younger. Yes, that's right, younger. Think Halle Berry's class and Jessica Mauboy's 'tude.

Ok, so you've naturally got the skin tone we smash our piggy bank over every summer (stares into screen enviously). But don't worry, we won't hold that against you, we're here to help, promise. And this summer we want you to embrace your natural colour and go for the more toned down hues with a hint of peach. Just as Jessica Alba does so causally when she's running errands with baby Haven. Or if you need more of a runway reference, think back to the pouts at Etro, Balenciaga, and Stella McCartney.

When thinking about it, when does red ever go out of style? Uhhh, never, ever, ever!  Especially for us of the fairer-skinned persuasion (represent!!), the contrast between this timeless trend and your Nicole Kidman-esque complexion equals a timeless and polished look. And we're pretty sure Dita Von Teese could vouch for us on this one. The classy kids over at Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, and Viktor & Rolf must also all agree that red is totally haute this season - they couldn't get enough of it at Fashion Week.

Lip-smacking tips for a flawless grin

To help you out with those teeth licking moment in life, here's a few little tips to hand down to your children, (it's okay, you can tell them its a tip handed down from generation to generation, we won't mind).

Never underestimate the power of a decent lip liner. Seriously, you would never want to be separated from your BFF, why do we separate the duo lippy and liner? We suggest you invest in a good liner that matches your lip colour. This will prevent your new colour from leaking and smooths out your lips. If you don't have a lip liner, concealer works just as well. Oh and remember to exfoliate your lips with an old toothbrush before the liner, you'll notice the difference.

Once your lippy is applied, place your index finger in your mouth and slowly remove it. This will get rid of all the yucky excess that seems to be very attracted to those clean white teeth of yours.

And lastly, use a lip brush instead of the lipstick itself (unless you're doing your touch ups, we'll allow that). Y'see, the brush allows for much more precision and lasts longer!

So voila, we better see more brightly coloured lips roaming the streets this summer!

Oh, and most importantly, don't forget to smile.
