Lip service: Get your ombre on with the latest lip craze

The ombre trend is taking over the world, I tells ya. We've seen ombre eyes, nails, hair, clothes, shoes... and so the list goes on. However, some beauty peeps may currently be wondering, what the heck is it? To put it bluntly, ombre is French for an effect with a gradual colour transition from light to dark (think: dip-dyed hair trend). The best bit? It looks rockin' on your pout! Basically, two shades of super hot lippies are graduated on the lip for a layered finish that’s eye-catching, dramatic and not as hard to achieve as you might think.

Here's how to get the picture-perfect pout using two gorgeously girlie lippies from YSL:

Step 1: Apply the darker, opaque lipstick onto lips. YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick in Le Fuschia is a perfect deep purply shade that will glide on.

Step 2: Apply a dab of Smashbox Camera Ready Full Coverage Concealer concealer in the middle of your pout (or alternatively use your own).

Step 3: Apply a lighter shade of lipstick over the concealer. YSL Rouge Volupte Perle Lipstick in Celestial Mauve a light pinky hue which will add dimension and depth and compliment the darker shade tres perfectly.

Step 4: Blend away. Using your finger, blend the lighter colour into the darker one, while being careful to leave the edges darker than the middle.

Step 5: Add a clear gloss gently over both lip shades to provide a picture-perfect finish. M.A.C Clear Lipglass is my pick.

See, easy peasy!
