Kate’s picks: The first five things I’m buying for April

Kates picks: The first five things Im buying for April

April for me is panic buying month. Not only is it normally, at last, finally cold enough to wear all the winter pieces I've been drooling over, but it's also Mercedes Benz Australian Fashion Week time. And with the rise of the street style blogger, it basically means you can get a daily dose of some pretty harsh feedback on what you are wearing (aka you either get papped like crazy, or you don't, ouch!).

So it's time to plug the holes in my Winter wardrobe with some great accessories, and some stand-out trend pieces (loving the Mint green shade right now). Not to mention a pair of low enough to run-around-in-all-day, but still killer looking designer heels (Mr Wang, I applaud you!).

    (1) Something mint

The price tag on this one kind of makes my feel a little ill, particularly for a such a faddy colour, but the cut is amazing, and I do neet a hint of mint somewhere, so I am just going to close my eyes, type in my memorised credit card details and pretend like it will all be ok!

SHOP IT: Mint green blazer, US$725, A.L.C, ssense.com

    (2) Gold choker necklace

A rose-tinted gold would have been event better, but I couldn't pass up this one because of the price (and after the blazer... I needed a few bargains!)

I'll use this to dress up some chunky knits and button up shirts (that I have already stock piled!)

SHOP IT:  Gold plate necklace, $39, beginningboutique.com.au

    (3) Print pants

Now I know there will be a LOT of floral pants going on at Fashion Week, they have been one of the hottest trends so far this year. And just because I don't want to be completely matchy, matchy with everyone else there I am going for some skinny animal print denims instead. The bonus is I will probably get a lot of non-Fashion Week wear out of these too.

SHOP IT:  Animal print pants, US$61, Motel, asos.com

    (4) Designer heels

I have a theory. And it's this. Basically as long as you have good hair and good shoes it really doesn't matter how much of a mess is happening in between. I plan on testing out this theory with this very hot (but still, hopefully, comfy) heels from Alexander Wang. Wish me luck!

SHOP IT:   Nimue 3 tab booties, US$525, Alexander Wang, shopbop.com,

    (5) Shirts

Yep, still! But I plan on wearing this with a fluoro tank underneath, so it's a two-for-one. Natch!

SHOP IT:  Burnout shirt, US$45 (on sale), asos.com
