Road tested: Maybelline Color Whisper Lipstick in Who Wore It Red-Er
INTRODUCTORY BEAUTY RANT
I typically keep my lip shades on the darker side in winter (what up ox blood), but felt it was time to bring out something a bit more punchy. Why hello there Maybelline Color Whisper, pleased to meet you. Take a seat, let's get to know each other.
The newest lippie innovation in Maybelline's stream of stellar products is classed as 'truly translucent gel-colour with pure colour pigments suspended in a weightless gel'. What that means is soft, sexy colour that stays put.
One application of this creamy stick of goodness gives just the right amount of pigment to the kissers and has a seriously moisturising effect with a semi-matte finish.
I'd describe the shade as somewhere between a deep red and warm berry with a flirty, feminine pinkish tinge. Alas... boysenberry!
I'm seriously digging the pinky-red tube packaging; chic, sleek and girly (right up my alley!) And the other colours in the range have got me equally smitten.
About two layers is needed to get full coverage and I'm pleased to note that the colour does not kiss off one little bit. 3 hours, a latte and two pieces of toast with avocado later, and I'm still rocking my sumptuous berry pout. Winning.
I've become a little selective when it comes to lipsticks, being that I'm so loyal to my sprinkling of favourites. But I have to say, I think I've just found the new love of my life. Happy dance!
