Curing the Westeros woes: 7 fantasy books to help you through your Game Of Thrones withdrawals
Despite what my good looks, chiseled body and unwavering modesty (okay, so I have none of those things) may lead you to believe, behind my overtly confident exterior beats the heart of a true fantasy nerd. Growing up I would devour fantasy stories faster than any other type of book — it didn't matter if it was shorter and intended for kids (like Harry Potter) or longer adult stories (such as The Mists Of Avalon), there's nothing that gets my mind racing quite like a little dose of the supernatural.
This love of the supernatural extends to TV shows as well so it's really no surprise that I instantly fell in love with the complex story lines and subtle supernatural elements (subtle early on at least) of Game Of Thrones. Once I became obsessed with the TV show I refused to read the books because I didn't want to spoil anything that might happen and know I can't be trusted to stop at the point where the show has reached. With the gap between this season that just ended and the next one stretching away before me like an unbearably steep and treacherous mountain, I'm looking for any distraction I can to keep me sane before the next season starts. These fantasy books are definitely filling that void.
