Shop your shape: 3 essential tops for small busted ladies
For years I had a friend who had boobs so small she must have been president of the itty bitty titty committee, then with her first pregnancy creeping up into the third trimester she had to learn to embrace the fact that she'd have to wear a bra every day. For people whose breasts are so small they could run a mile sans bra without so much as a slight ache there may be times when you've wished your cup would spill over, but trust me when I say that having to hold on to your rack for dear life as you run down a few stairs is not a fun way to live your life. There are so many joys that come with having smaller boobs — and yes, to me most of them involve not having to wear a bra — that you should embrace in your wardrobe to really get the most out of it.
Go for the plunge
Plunging styles of tops including super deep Vs and halternecks can be tricky to wear when you've got bigger boobs — there's a whole lot of taping and a constant fear of boob popping to deal with — but are easy to get away with if you've got a flat chest. There's a particular Elie Saab jumpsuit that Emma Stone wore on the red carpet a few years back that would look obscene on somebody with stacks of cleavage, but can look sophisticated and sexy on someone with a small bust. With these plunging styles you can also embrace tops that are completely backless (once again, the joys of not having to wear a bra!) which will draw the attention to your sexy arms and back.
Embellish the hell out of it
If you're wanting to add a little bit of weight to your bust area without padding your bra then you should look for tops that have an embellished neckline. This can be something as simple as a bold pattern like the one pictured above (the solid lines at the neck and waist help give the illusion of a fuller bust and curvier figure), but can also be done with frills, ruffles or a faux necklace neckline. These styles are great for making your bust appear bigger without overwhelming your frame or making you look top heavy.
Hit the high life
Mention a turtleneck to your big-boobed friends and prepare to see them go running for the hills because high-necked styles add a lot of weight to your look, especially if you've already got a fuller bust to begin with. High necked styles including boat necks and turtlenecks draw attention to your face and will highlight your slim shape. To bring this look into Summer, look for short-sleeved cropped turtlenecks like the one pictured above and pair with a high-waisted skirt for a surprisingly sexy look that will never be skanky.
