Ready, Set, Go: How to take your day from zero to hero in four easy steps

I don’t know what it is about this time of year, but there seems to be some sort of direct correlation between the numbers on the thermometer rising, and the amount of notice your friends give you prior to events, declining.

Where as in Winter, the idea of leaving your house is usually so unappealing it requires days (if not weeks) of planning and prep. In the warmer months the fact that the sun is shining is usually all the motivation you need, and a simple wine glass Emoji the only notice (thumbs up, winkey face!).

And sometimes a girl just isn’t impromptu-party-time ready. Especially not if say it’s a Tuesday, and your previous plans were just to make it from bed to cubicle, and back again.

So how can you make sure you are able to RSVP “hells yes” the next time one of your chief partners in crime suggests you hit up that crazy hidden pop-up restaurant they accidentally stumbled across (you know the one that looks like a public toilet from the outside?), or any one of the other limitless possibilities that arrive along with the warmer temps?

Well, keeping a few of these instant pick-me-uppers on hand (or in desk) is a pretty good place to start!

1 – The statement lippie!

No matter what you are wearing, or how ready-for-your-couch you were feeling. Popping a bold swipe of colour onto your pout instantly puts you in a more social mood. Right now I am loving anything fuchsia or even just a classic red as my goes-with-everything desk drawer staples.

2  - A bottle of something festive

Nothing says “the weekend is here” like the pop of a champagne cork. It’s my go-to tipple for pretty much any occasion in the warmer months, whether you are frocking-up trackside, or just heading to your favourite little dumpling place. A bottle of Piper-Heidsieck bubbles is like the LBD of beverages, it goes with anything. Often more than once!

3 – Your pump-it-up playlist

It doesn’t need to be more than a few tracks, sometimes even just the one will do. But we all know the power of popping on your fave dance-floor-filler. For me personally, just the slightest hint of Beyoncé will have me out of my Uggs and into my stilettos faster than you can say “Hey, didn’t she break up with Jay-Z?”.

4 – The ready-for-anything sandals

Night on the tiles. Sorted. Pho feast for 10? You’re ready. Ryan Gosling movie marathon. I am there! And I designed these fancy-flats especially myself (Thanks to Shoes of Prey) as the Swiss Army Knife of shoes which are practical enough to get me where I need to go without limping , neutral enough to never clash, and just special enough to dress up whatever I choose to wear as well.

Great comp! I love the idea behind Shoes of Prey, being able to design and customize my own shoes, I’m 5’10 and the heels I love always tend to be way too high. I’m usually not a fan of most sandals as some look so daggy, but those black and purple ones are gorgeous! <3
