Best beauty dupes: 7 cheaper alternatives for high end makeup

All prices are in AUD$ (Australian Dollars)

We all wish we could have an endless supply of MAC eyeshadow and Giorgio Armani foundation, but truth be told, our bank accounts would probably divorce us by way of bankruptcy if that was the case. So because I know everyone loves a good beauty bargain, I've gone and hunted down 7 budget vs hey-big-spender makeup dupes that make scoring some of your fave, high end beauty essentials just that little bit easier.

1. SPLURGE: Urban Decay Naked Palette, AUD$84, vs SAVE: Chi Chi Glamorous Eyeshadow Palette Nudes, AUD$22.95,

Except for slight colour variations and with the Chi Chi palette having less of a shimmery finish, both of these eyeshadow superstars could have been twins separated at birth.

2. SPLURGE: Benefit They're Real! Mascara, AUD$38, vs SAVE: Maybelline Volum' Express The Falsies Mascara, AUD$19.95,

Each mascara formula lengthens, curls, volumises, lifts and separates while imparting thick, bold, fanned out lashes. The only difference? The price point, of course.

3. SPLURGE: NARS Illuminator in Copacabana, AUD$39, vs SAVE: Face of Australia Mineral Therapy Face and Body Illuminator, AUD$14.95,

Both of these illuminating liquid highlighters enhance the complexion with a fresh, dewy finish worthy of a Victoria's Secret runway glow.

4. SPLURGE: MAC Lipliner in Whirl, AUD$30, vs SAVE: NYX Retractable Lipliner in  Natural, AUD$7.46,

It's Kylie Jenner's fave lip liner and it's sold out worldwide (eek). Yep, MAC's 'Whirl' lip pencil sure was popular! Thankfully NYX has released a cheaper alternative that does the trick and is almost the exact colour match.

5. SPLURGE: Beautyblender Sponge, AUD$23.50, vs SAVE: Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge, AUD$15.99,

With relatively similar designs, both sponges leave you with a professional finish and a flawless complexion to boot.

6. SPLURGE: Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner, AUD$35, vs SAVE: Maybelline EyeStudio Lasting Drama Gel Pot Liner, AUD$16.95,

Two little pots of goodness that give you the look of liquid liner with the ease and feel of a gel formula. Truth be told though, the Bobbi Brown is a little more long-lasting with a more intense colour payoff.

7. SPLURGE: Clinique Chubby Stick, AUD$35, vs SAVE: Borjois Color Boost Lip Crayon, AUD$15,

Sumptuous colour payoff, a semi-glossy finish and super hydrating properties — we can't tell the difference with these juicy lip crayons. Can you?
