1. What are your top 5 can't-live-without beauty products?
Tell us a bit about your career so far and how you got there.
Just like any hairdresser I started in a salon sweeping the floor but from the age of eight, my dad would let me cut his hair. Obviously I would do what was considered the worst haircut ever but my dad would tell me it was the best haircut he had ever had ... needless to say he lied. So my love for hairdressing began when I was really young, and now I own two salons in Sydney and I'm doing what I love; I think my dad had a little to do with that.
Which beauty secret do you swear by?
Blast your eyelash curler with your hair dryer for a second so that it heats up, giving you a curlier result that lasts longer on your lashes.
Describe a typical working day.
We walk into the salon, music plays, we laugh, we sing, sometimes dance, make our clients feel good and look great and then we wake up the next day and do it all over again.
Who is your beauty inspiration?
My biggest beauty inspiration is Blake Lively. Her beauty is so effortless and her skin is always glowing, not to mention she has the most incredible hair.
If you could wear only one colour of polish for the rest of your life, which would it be?
Normally I'd say a nude colour but how boring would that be if that was the only colour you could wear? So I'll opt for red — you need a bit of colour in your life!
Walk us through your daily makeup application.
After I cleanse and moisturise, I use Dermalogica tint, then I apply a little of my MAC Bronzer to the cheek area. I then use my Maybelline Liquid Liner in Black to line my top lid, then slick on Rimmel black mascara and I finish with a MAC Lipstick in a Pink or Red shade.
Most embarrassing beauty blunder of all time?
The first time I ever had a spray tan I asked the girl doing it to make me really dark and she double sprayed me. It was a really dim room so I thought wow I look so dark and I was really happy. On the way back to work and walking through the shopping centre I kept getting strange looks from everyone and it's only when I stepped back into the salon one of my staff said, "Why do you look like a carrot?" Yes, very embarrassing and my staff will never let me live that down. That was my first and last spray tan!
If you could have one superpower which would it be?
If I could choose a superpower I would choose teleporting. I love travelling and it would be amazing to be able to go anywhere just by thinking of a place.
