11 of the best art inspired homewares

When I was in high school (man does that feel like a long time ago — and no I don't even want to think about the fact that it will be my ten year anniversary next year), one of my favourite subjects was always art. While I loved painting and trying out new techniques I was never particularly gifted in any way, but absolutely loved learning about the theory behind art and how different styles were developed (which was probably how I was somehow able to turn a lack of talent into one of my highest scoring subjects).

What always surprised me the most about art was how some of the simplest looking styles are actually incredibly tricky to master or replicate. I remember doing an assignment on Keith Haring once and how frustrated I got trying to make his signature men look good on the page. Even Andy Warhol's world-famous brand of pop art would have been incredibly difficult to do before the time of Photoshop, which is exactly what made them so popular in the first place. If you're a little bit of an artsy-fartsy type, then these art inspired homewares would look lovely in your home. They range from subtle inspirations through to actual replications so you can have as much or as little inspiration as you like, and feel free to hammer on about the juxtaposition and colour balance whenever anybody comments on them.

I haven’t got the right kind of space for the pop-arty look – we have an art deco theme – but I do love the bright, bold colours and geometric shapes :)

Yep I think the Andy Warhol stationery set is about all I could get away with in my house!
