I noticed when I was shopping last weekend that Portmans actually have some really cute dresses in some nice cuts, not too tizzy or anything (ok, they have tizzy formally style ones too). Depends on your budget though, as Gorman is doing some cute dresses in fabulous print fabrics as well.
Yes, I agree that Portmans have some really nice dresses lately! All of favourite dresses are from Forever New. You should have a quick look in their store!
Have you looked on Modcloth.com? They have some really gorgeous frocks which are all quite well priced. Country Road also have some nice dresses this season, as do Marcs and Saba.
And of course there is always good old asos which sells everything
Depending on your style & how ‘young’ you are- I love Dotti for a casual, cute look- I havent seen their range of late but they usually have a cute frock that you can pick up for under $80.
I think maxi/flowy dresses are great for afternoon BBQ’s too because theyre comfy, practical & stylish…
If you want something simple then maybe a dress like this- http://dropdeadgorgeousdaily.com/dshop/fade-to-purple/ that you can dress up or down with accessories, jacket etc

Depending on your budget you have a million and one options.
High Range Budget – Anything by Camilla or White Seude is amazing for Spring frocks at the moment.
Mid Range – try something from Alice McCall. They have some gorgoeus, girly frocks that have just dropped in their online store. This one is my fav at the moment: http://www.alicemccall.com/shop/item/she-cried-dress
Low Range – Dotti has a few nice steals lately. Also try Bardot, Forever New or DeCjuba for statement maxi’s.

Or there’s this Topshop frock…

Cotton On is always good for some cute little dresses, good prices too!

I totally agree with Portmans and Forever New. Dotti have some really great bright dresses that will be great this summer, and Ice actually have some nice pieces in at the moment as well. Otherwise Topshop is doing free shipping at the moment
Rockmans have some great casual dresses that are stylish and great value for money!!
I think Witchery stock great Spring/Summer wear…lived in a Witchery frock last Summer!
