I just had an idea, should we rally for DDGD to organize a swap-shop for all of us fashion lovers, who over-spend a little? :) x

YES! I had thought about that 6 months ago but never asked on the forum. So glad you did! Wonder if more people would be interested.

If it was set up properly, with good guidelines to follow and some way of ensuring that no one is taken advantage of, it could be a brilliant addition to the site! Perhaps if it was decided that all liability lies with the members agreeing to swap items then there couldn’t be any negative connotations for DDGD.

      Very well put! x

I think it’s a great idea! I guess there would be a few terms & conditions that would need to be sorted out as well as the cost of postage but a great way to update your wardrobe without breaking budget!

    • Zerotolove

Definitely! See my post below for some ideas x

I agree with the previous posts. If it was set up properly I’d definitely use it!

It would pretty much be an Ebay but using goods to buy other goods in a sense. I could see it working.

    • Zerotolove

Or even could trade DDGD dollars for an item, so that people could afford the SWAG they’re lusting over?

Hey guys, We have thought about it, and we feel the same, if we can work out how to make sure it’s safe, fair and easy to use (and also what the heck to do about shipping) then we will do it.

Just after we’ve got the pop up 100% perfect, updated the galleries, launched out iPhone and iPad app and a few other things 😉

    xx

    • Zerotolove

Well, I guess you could say that Shipping must be sent in an express bag (ie, same cost for 2 people to send a parcel to each other, given the items are under 3kgs, I work with Australia Post, so understand the system a bit). On top of that, for those who abuse the system, they could have their SWAG rights, as well as the right to listing swap items, removed. What do you think? x

    • Tess

Just a small check-list there Kate 😉 good-luck with it all! xx

    • DDGD - Kate

Yeah, shouldn’t take too long 😉

    • Zerotolove

Was just an idea, no need to be rude…

    • Tess

I know I wasn’t meaning for my comment to come across as rude & I doubt very much Kate did either. These things take time, that’s all I was saying :)

    • DDGD - Kate

Sorry Zerotolove, wasn’t meaning to be rude at all either, was just being cheeky. We definitely love the idea, and will keep you updated if and when we can do it. x

I would love to! I have unworn shoes, vintage clothes, accessories all in good condition. This is very timely Zerotolove, as I was just looking at buying a ticket – $25 – for the clothing swap which is one of the events at next month’s LMFF. Maybe I will hang on to my stuff now and wait for DDG’s swap – yay!

    • Zerotolove

Oh I never knew there was a swap shop! Wow… how dies it work? (Looking forward to LMFF!) x

I agree! Or, seperate forums for high street, designer and vintage! x

DEFS! that really sounds like a wicked idea. I have SO many clothes, that I hoard, most I don’t even wear anymore. And don’t even get me started on shoes. I don’t want to sell them because most people online that I sell to ( on ebay etc etc) are cheapskates. I would much rather swap for another item and give my clothes to fashionistas who would actually appreciate the item.

    • Zerotolove

Ergh, agree about the eBay! I still list on there though. I’ll post a link somewhere! x

    • sarabear557

      i agree too

Great idea. I’m always buying and selling stuff on ebay but am really getting over it, so would love another outlet to aquire ‘new’ pieces and get rid of my ‘old’ things.

YES! It would be great to have a swap shop of like-minded fashion people, rather than having to trawl through all the junk on other websites.

That would be great! I have many things that I’ve bought but are sitting with tags attached (they seemed like the perfect thing at the time!). I could make space in my wardrobe and fill it at the same time, which is possibly counterproductive but that’s never stopped me before.

    • GMeers

      LadyInLace – I spy a kindred spirit! 😉

What a great idea this is! I’m up for swapping instead of shopping! (though I love shopping…maybe both?!) :)

It’s a great idea and a way to save a bit of money too, as I always end up giving my stuff away to the Op shop, a lot still in mint condition.

This sounds like a good idea. However, postage costs can be very expensive. You could post a piccie of something you are bored of and see what others have.

  • MadelenaB

I would only use it if someone was monitoring the products going up so that no one is posting clothes that are not worth swapping. Obviously not everyones style is the same and it doesnt all have to be brand name designer clothes either but just so that clothes that have obviously see better days are not being posted and clogging up the system because it would make it painful to go through! other that that it is a great idea however I don’t know how easy it would be to organise a fair system through the website on here unless it was a one of thing for a week or so..
